Reader Kevin brought a great deal to our attention after he recently spent some time digging through the Ultimate Rewards Mall.

Right now, new subscribers to the Wall Street Journal can receive 2,000 miles by subscribing through the link on the Ultimate Rewards Mall website. The link brings up a page offering a 12 week Digital+Print subscription for $12.

You may cancel at any time during the subscription period by 1-800-JOURNAL, so your total outlay will be just $12 for 2,000 points. That’s like paying 0.6¢ per point, which is a good deal since we value Ultimate Rewards points at 2¢ per point. If you were to simply cash the points out toward a statement credit at 1¢ each, your $12 would still have earned $20 worth of credit, so there’s really no way to lose on this promotion.

Of course, this all assumes that you view the newspaper itself as worthless! If you would actually enjoy the paper – and its subscriber-only digital equivalent – then this is an even better deal. Wondering how you find more deals like this in the future?

Kevin found this deal by searching All Online Stores within the Ultimate Rewards Mall and then selecting Earn Rate from the drop-down on the following page.

This page is a great one to explore to find other Ultimate Rewards deals, as well. Stores you may not have suspected would be listed often are, such as the Apple Store, which pays an extra 2 points per $1 just for clicking through.

Of course, be certain to read the terms and conditions for Ultimate Rewards Mall members, and for members of any such online shopping mall, so you don’t end up disappointed if a purchase proves to be ineligible. Gift cards, for example, almost never earn bonus points. Even with its limitations, the Ultimate Rewards Mall and other online shopping portals can be a great and painless way to earn great bonus points on spending you’re already doing.

Thanks again to Kevin for bringing this deal to PointsAway readers!

Thanks for the heads up! This is a great find. Do you know if the ultimate rewards points for both chase freedom and chase sapphire preferred are the same earn rates? Do you know with this offer if you can sign up on each card or if it is just per person?

      Hi Jill,

Great questions! I can confirm that the Freedom and Sapphire Preferred can both earn this 2,000 point bonus. I’m not certain if sign-ups with each card are possible as WSJ itself may limit the offer to one per household, but there’s nothing on the Ultimate Rewards side of things stopping this. Please let us know if you try with both cards and if you’re able to sign up successfully for both!
